Frankish and Anglo-Saxon throwing spear. Has a long (6 ft) thin iron neck with a barbed head. Almost indentical to the Roman pilum.

Annellet
The small loops leading from quillions to the blade. Made to protect the finger wrapped over the guard.
Bascinet
See Basinet.
Cross
Also cross-guard or quillions. The straight bar or guard of a Medieval sword.
Lance rest
A support for the lance when couched; this was bolted to the right side of the breastplate and was often hinged.
