Also called bascinet, basnet. An open-faced helmet with a globular or conical skull enclosing the sides of the face and neck.The visor was often conical, giving the appearance of a  muzzle  or a beak . They were sometimes called "dog faced" (medievally known as a  hounskull ) or "pig faced" (a common but strictly modern term).
