The term war axe is not a particular weapon but rather descriptive of an axe designed specifically for use in combat. War axes were generally all metal construction and occasionally double-headed. Their axe heads were often longer and broader than a common woodsman’s axe was.

Bracer
Early fourteenth century form of defence for the lower arm; also a term for an archer's arm guard to protect the forearm from the bowstring.
Gorget
Also called a collar. Close-fitting plate protecting the neck, throat, and upper chest.
Gardebras
Armor for the whole arm. Consists of the couter, vambrace and rerebrace.
Helmet
Armor protecting the head. Comes in many forms.
