A slow-burning cord of hemp or flax soaked in saltpetre and then dried. Used to ignite cannon and hand guns.

- Bracer
- Early fourteenth century form of defence for the lower arm; also a term for an archer's arm guard to protect the forearm from the bowstring.
- Gardebras
- Armor for the whole arm. Consists of the couter, vambrace and rerebrace.
- Lame
- A narrow strip or plate of steel, sometimes used in armour to provide articulation.
- Visor
- Protection for the eyes and face; a plate defence pivoted to the helmet - skull.
