A curtain of mail attached by means of staples (ver-velles) around the base of a helmet (especially the basinet ), and covering the shoulders. Also called camail (a French term).

Lame
A narrow strip or plate of steel, sometimes used in armour to provide articulation.
Plackart
Part of armor. Covers the wearer's lower rib and stomach area. Attached with straps which allows better flexibility.
Salade
See Sallet.
Ox mace
Mace made of metal; head was shaped like that of an ox's and often had holes in the nostrils so that it whistled when swung.
