helmet. By the twelfth century it often incorporated a
ventail.
- Gisarme
- Solid and bulky, ornamental spear-like
polearm.
- Skull
- The part of a
helmet covering the top, back and the sides of the head above the ears. It can also denote a simple metal cap.
- Bard, or Barding
- A term for horse armor, which could be made from a variety of materials, including mail and plate.
